Chisinau, 21 June /MOLDPRES/ – The Parliament has made some amendments to the Code of commercial shipping (CNMC) of Moldova today.
The initiative belongs to MP Anatolie Labunet and establishes that ships purchased or built in foreign state will be able to obtain the right to navigate under Moldavian flag only at the time of signing up in the State Register of Ships of Moldova and after issuing of the necessary certificates by Naval Agency (AN). Currently, it is possible to register the ship through consular offices of Moldova, in cases of procurement or construction abroad.
Also, certificates obtained will only be valid until permanent registration procedure of the ship has been completed and certificates attesting this fact have been issued. This term can not be longer than half a year.
The initiative author claims that changes within legislation will minimise risks of accepting ships that do not meet standards for registration in the State Register of Ships (RSN) of Moldova.
