Moldovan cabinet to provide 1,000 lei to victims of political repressions each

Chisinau, 21 June /MOLDPRES/ - Victims of Stalin’s deportations will be commemorated through a string of activities throughout Moldova on 6 July. Prime Minister Pavel Filip today summoned a working meeting, during which he instructed to create an organizational committee for holding events dedicated to the day of commemorating the victims of Stalin’s deportations, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
National mourning day will be on 6 July. The state flags will be raised at half mast in all Moldova’s settlements and one minute of silence will be kept at 10:00. At the same time, all over the country, flowers will be laid at monuments built in the memory of the victims, solemn meetings, topic-related exhibitions of photos, documents and boos will be held. At the same time, decision-makers plan to make TV and radio programmes, screenings of movies, round-tables and literary and musical shows.
The participants in the meeting also said that material assistance worth 1,000 lei would be provided to more than 8,000 persons victims of political repressions - by 300 lei more against 2017.
The day of commemorating the victims of Stalin’s deportations has been annually marked on 6 July starting from 2016. About 87,000 persons from Moldova were hit by the deportations from 1941, 1949 and 1951.
