Chisinau, 21 June /MOLDPRES/ – For the first time in recent four months, Joint Military Command (CMC) was not ready to submit the weekly report on situation in Security Zone (ZS) at the Joint Control Commission (CUC) today, because lack of consensus for signing by senior military commanders from Russia, Ukraine, Moldova and Transnistrian region, the office for reintegration policy’s information and media communication service has reported.
Thus, one of reflected issues in draft report refers to serious violation of ZS regime, which took place on 14 June 2018 by movement on Tiraspol – Ribnita road of three military armoured columns of various types belonging to the Operative Group of Russian troops (GOTR). The representatives of Russia and Tiraspol opposed annexation of video images identified by group of military observers which went on spot to document the case on that day.
The delegation of Russia outlined its position in a note stating that "according to operative info, during the World Cup in football, there were no acts of terrorism and actions challenging the objectives of the Russian Ministry of Defence. In connection with it, in order to increase security measures for warehouses in Cobasna, it was decided to strengthen duly guarding of this objective."
Head of Russian delegation, Ilia Uvarov, in a defiant manner added that through these actions OGRT would have acted consistently and operative without harming peacekeeping operation.
The Ukrainian representative in JCC expressed deep concern about unauthorised displacement of military columns near the Ukrainian border, as well as the fact that the JCC and CMC were not promptly informed about preparation of terrorist acts or challenges on deposit ammunition in Cobasna.
The OSCE Mission representatives have asked Russian delegation to ensure the return of these military troops to place of deployment under the control of the peacekeeping mechanism.
In other range of ideas, also today, it was held a separate meeting of heads of delegations within Commission, representatives of Ukraine and OSCE Mission to Moldova in Bender city, which exchanged views on JCC and CMC actions regarding security on bridge near villages Gura Bacului and Bacioc.
The discussions will continue at next JCC meeting on 28 June 2018.
