Chisinau, 28 June /MOLDPRES/ – A representative painting exhibition called: Recviem, in memory of victims of the Stalinist deportations from 1941 – 1949, was opened today at Exhibition Centre Constantin Brancusi in Chisinau.

The exhibition includes 58 works by 55 authors.

Interviewed by agency, Vice-president of the Union of Fine Artists, Ghenadie Jalba, said exhibition "Recviem" is at its seventh issue and is a good occasion to remember tragic events wich had taken place during communist totalitarian regime. "In those years, hundreds of thousands of Bessarabians were deported to Siberian ice. Probably, there are very few families that have not been affected by this calvary," said Ghenadie Jalba.

At her turn, plastic artist, Florina Breazu, congratulated those which made sense of event, because one of major topics of artistic creation is that of memory – collective and individual.

In the context, plastic artist, Andrei Mudrea, stated that his work "Tacere" (Silence) in exhibition is a broken bell, a symbol of this people, which was also destroyed by communist Stalinist regime. "It is similar symbol of our grandparents and our parents, of our relatives which have gone through this calvary. In their memory is this exhibition. I am glad that my colleagues also answered this call. Because a wise word says if something hurts you, it means you are alive, and if someone's pain hurts you, it means you are human," said Mudrea.

The first prize won Andrei Mudrea, second prize – Eudochia Robu and third prize – Pavel Cornogolub. The diplomas of merit from the Union of Fine Artists were awarded to Evgheni Iacovlev, Dmitri Sibaev, Ruslan Rosca, Iurie Lupu, Mihai Mireanu and Emil Cojocaru, and Sava Mihailicenco received a special diploma from jury.
