Two universities in Moldova, Italy to cooperate on cardiology, cardiosurgery

Chisinau, 28 June /MOLDPRES/ – An international collaboration agreement between the Moldovan State University of Medicine and Pharmacy Nicolae Testemitanu (USMF) and the Bicocca University of Milan, Italy, was signed in Chisinau today.
The partners of the signatory parties are: the Polyclinic Hospital of Monza, Republican Clinical Hospital Timofei Mosneaga, Institute of Cardiology, Medpark International Hospital, Titu Maiorescu University and Monza Hospital in Bucharest, as well as the Ministry of Healthcare, Labour and Social Protection (MSMPS) of Moldova.
The event was attended by Minister of Healthcare, Labour and Social Protection, Svetlana Cebotari, President of Monza Hospital, Massimo de Salvo, General Manager of Monza Hospital in Bucharest, Luca Militelo, and Head of Cardiology Department at San Gaudenzio Hospital, Novara, Gheorghe Cerin.
At her turn, Minister of Healthcare, Labour and Social Protection, Svetlana Cebotari, mentioned that the national healthcare system has currently been undertaking more reforms throughout planning to reach world – recognised standards. Related to it, has stated official, Moldova as well aims to build accessible, high – quality, affordable medical services for citizens.
"The event of today is plenary in all activities carried out between Moldova, Italy, Romania and other states. Due to the tripartite agreement, we have a legal and institutional framework necessary to deepen our collaboration, which will be a continuous source for academia and medical institutions," said Svetlana Cebotari.
In this context, director of Cardiology Institute, Vitalie Moscalu, said that recently collaboration was fruitful after there were consulted several children, and then there were carried out successful cardiac surgery interventions. "There has been fruitful work, experience exchanges between specialists, some of them benefiting from long-term fellowships, from three to twelve months. Thus, under this agreement, our physicians work with specialists from Romania and Italy in the field of cardiology and cardiac surgery," noted Vitalie Moscalu.
The document provides for cooperation in cultural, didactic, educational and research activities fields, as to achieve a high standard in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases. As to achieve this goal, there will be encouraged medical staff training on invasive and non-invasive procedures, postgraduate courses and professional training programs in echocardiography, telemedicine, research projects and participation in symposiums and other academic events.
This interinstitutional collaboration agreement was concluded for a period of five years, with possibility of being prolonged.
