Chisinau, 29 June /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Pavel Filip has asked Justice Minister Victoria Iftodi to come up with proposals to amend the legislative framework in the electoral field. The request was made at the beginning of today's cabinet meeting, in the context of the invalidation of elections in Chisinau.
“I watched last week these developments and decisions of courts, which have caused tensions and questions. I ask the Minister of Justice to analyze the legislative framework and the provisions on which these decisions were made to invalidate the elections. I want to see where we need to intervene,” he said.
The premier said that the legal framework should not contain "margin of interpretation". Filip added that speaker Andrian Candu will have to create a working group to come up with solutions to improve legislation.
The proposals of the Ministry of Justice are due to be submitted by 3 July.
The local elections in the capital were invalidated by the Supreme Court of Justice.
