Chisinau, 29 June /MOLDPRES/ – The draft resolution on "The complete and unconditional withdrawal of foreign military forces from the territory of the Republic of Moldova" approved by the UNO is a historic event and a first step in a vast political process. The statement has been made by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Tudor Ulianovschi, in an exclusive interview for agency.

The MAEIE official said that resolution adopted at the UN was a success for the whole of the diplomatic corps, especially the mission in New York. "It has succeeded in attracting in a relatively short period of time support of 64 countries which voted. By voting, the UN member states have supported the Republic of Moldova, and the resolution adopted is a first step in a vast political process. In particular, given that we have a large number of resolution co-authors, including G7 member states," said Ulianosvchi.

The official said that resolution adopted at UNO was not a sanctioning, but a political one, which at procedural level would serve as "positive pressure on Russia and will attract support for Moldova at international level."

"At next UN sessions we can address elements of Resolution to support he complete and unconditional withdrawal of foreign military forces from the territory of the Republic of Moldova," said Ulianosvchi.

On 22 June, in New York, the UN General Assembly approved draft resolution on "The complete and unconditional withdrawal of foreign military forces from the territory of the Republic of Moldova". The document was supported by 64 states.
