Moldovan district hospital achieves energy optimisation with Germany's support

Chisinau, 29 June /MOLDPRES/ – A project on energy efficiency increase of District Hospital in Calarasi was completed, by support of German Government. A special commission evaluated on 28 June the works in final reception, which deemed to be in accordance with norms.

Within project, the central medical institution in Calarasi rebuilt central heating and thermal networks, complex with solar water heating panel.

Thus, three new boilers based on natural gas have been installed at the hospital, the capacity of each being 780 kW, solar panels, two thermal boilers (1600 kW) for blocks 1 and 2, and it was built a thermal route of 504 metres length. "These actions help to improve patients comfort, medical care, but also to reduce the costs of ensuring the institution heating in the winter," related sources from ADR Centru, an institution which dealt with project implementation.

"We expect considerable savings for district budget. The new equipment will allow us optimise hospital maintenance costs, especially in cold period of year, by about 30 per cent. There are hospitalised on average seven thousand patients in the hospital annually, to which we are obliged to offer optimal conditions," said head of Calarasi district Sergiu Artene.

The achievement of these objectives was possible by financial support of Government of Germany, through project "Increasing the energy efficiency of IMSP Calarasi District Hospital". It is part of the wide-ranging programme "Modernising local public services in Moldova", implemented by the International Cooperation Agency of Germany (ICAG).

The renovation works of District Hospital in Calarasi were launched in 2017, and the total cost of investments is MDL 8.4 million.
