Moldovan Interior Ministry employees with special status to get financial compensation for rental of dwellings

Chisinau, 29 June /MOLDPRES/ – The civil servants with special status of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MAI) will receive financial compensation for rent or sub – rent of dwelling. The government has approved today a regulation on it, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.
The beneficiaries of this draft law are officials with special status within MAI which are not provided with housing, including a hostel, at workplace, and have a permanent place of residence located over 30 km from workplace. The amount of compensation will cover the cost of dwelling rent, specified in rent contract, but will not exceed the salary of employees. Additionally, if the husband and wife are civil servants with special status within MAI, both will receive compensation for dwelling rent.
"We intend to come with more initiatives to enable young people and civil servants to have a home in Moldova. A separate attention was paid to public servants of MAI and the Ministry of Defence (MA), and here we have several public – private partnerships," said PM Pavel Filip.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs has so far initiated three public-private partnerships. "We expect in September to have about 300 apartments ready and we will hand over the keys to MAI employees. The needs of the ministry for Chisinau municipality are about one thousand apartments, we expect in two years to cover them," said Minister of Internal Affairs, Alexandru Jizdan. According to him, Regulation approved today, Programme First Home 2 and service apartments will definitively solve the problem of housing with MIA employees.
For employees of MA, there are 112 apartments in operation in Chisinau now, 15 in Balti and 18 in Cahul. "At this stage, we have a public – private partnership and by the end of the year we have to receive the keys from 335 apartments in Chisinau and another 25 in Balti," said Defence Minister Eugen Sturza.
