Chisinau, 29 June /MOLDPRES/ – More actions, within International Day for Combating use and trafficking of drugs, were organised during current week in Comrat at initiative of social centre: Impreuna pentru viata (Together for life).

According to organisers, the campaign was focused on happy childhood and positive parents. "Causes of drug use often come from childhood due to family problems and difficult relationships between children and parents. That is why we decided to organise joint activities involving both young people and adults. Joint work can have a beneficial impact on the atmosphere in the home and family, teaching the child to value those values," explained sources from Together for life.

Among other things, participants had the opportunity to try their skills in sculpture. The children and their parents made several symbolic objects, all of them saying "these will become family relics."

The masterclass of sculpture in Comrat was supported by craftsman Piotr Capacli, leader of the School of crafts in locality.

In 1987, the World Health Organisation (WHO) General Assembly decided to mark 26 June as the International Day against drug use. Its aim is to increase efforts and cooperation to create an international society where there is no drug use.

According to WHO, around 200 million people worldwide use drugs at least once a year. "The young people are more open to new, at risk, more willing to try new experiences." Young people are target of a massive information attack, where drug use is often presented as "an alternative to coping with life," says a WHO statement.
