Moldovan foreign affairs minister to pay working visit to Japan

Chisinau, 29 June /MOLDPRES/ - The deepening of the political dialogue between Moldova and Japan, boosting of the commercial and economic relations between the two states, as well as the implementation of new investment projects in Moldova with the participation of the Japanese business environment will be discussed by Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Tudor Ulianovschi with the Tokyo authorities, within a working visit to this country by the Moldovan diplomacy head, due on 2-5 July.
According to the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry (MAEIE) press service, the agenda of Minister Ulianovschi includes working meetings with his Japanese counterpart Toro Kono, leadership of the National Diet of Japan (parliament), officials of the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JIKA), Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), Japan Association of Travel Agents (JATA) and the Japan Business Federation (Keidaren).
At a meeting with representatives of companies importing goods from Moldova, the sides are to discuss problems in this sector, as well as possibilities of increasing the potential of national products and services which can be exported to the Japanese market, as well as to other markets in the concerned region.
Three technical assistance projects worth 58.4 million euros in all are presently underway in Moldova with the support of Japan’s government: on efficient use of solid fuel from biomass; on improving medical services and on destruction pesticides and dangerous chemical products in Moldova. An agreement on grant titled, Conservation Agriculture – Development of a Sustainable Soils Management System in Moldova, was signed between the Moldovan and Japanese governments in March 2017. Under the accord, the government of Japan will provide a grant worth 4.8 million dollars to Moldova to buy farming technology.
This is the first visit to Tokyo by the Moldovan diplomacy head, after the mutual inauguration of diplomatic missions in 2016.
