Chisinau, 02 July /MOLDPRES/ – Moldova must have at least one embassy on every continent. The statement was made by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Tudor Ulianovschi, in an exclusive interview for agency.
According to the head of diplomacy in Chisinau, lack of diplomatic representations in Latin American countries and African continent was felt at the UN General Assembly when most of these countries abstained and voted for resolution on "The complete and unconditional withdrawal of foreign military forces from the territory of the Republic of Moldova ".
"In countries of South America the best place for an embassy of Moldova is Argentina. And on the African continent, Ghana has the greatest political and economic weight, so there is also the best location for a representation. It is necessary for us to be present in India especially for the young people which want to study in Moldova," said Ulianovschi.
He added that after the opening of new embassies, Moldova would enjoy more support at both the UN and other international fora.
On 22 June, in New York, the UN General Assembly approved the draft resolution on "The complete and unconditional withdrawal of foreign military forces from the territory of the Republic of Moldova". The document was supported by 64 states.
