Moldovan government to provide subsidies to young people, women launching businesses in agriculture

Chisinau, 02 July /MOLDPRES/ – The young people and women which want to start farming can now request state subsidies. This year, the Government will grant about MDL 45 million for the premature subsidisation of investments in the agricultural sector.

The Agency for Intervention and Payment in Agriculture (AIPA) started collecting applications for payments. This was announced by the Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment (MADRM) today. The money will be allocated from the National Fund for Agriculture and Rural Development (FNDAMR).

The potential beneficiaries of subsidies are to develop a feasible business plan in a rural setting. The total value of proposed project must not exceed MDL 1 million. There will be covered 65 per cent of the project costs value by state, and another 35 per cent will be invested by idea author.

The subsidies will be granted for projects aiming at growing vegetables and fruits on protected land, setting up vineyards and fruit plants, livestock farms, procurement of breeding animals and development of post-harvest and processing infrastructure.

The financial support will be provided in 2 installments. The first part will constitute 75 per cent of grant amount and it will be awarded at the time of contract signing and remaining money will be transferred with the launch of business.
