Actual interim mayor of Chisinau to continue to serve position

Chisinau, 02 July /MOLDPRES/ – Ruslan Codreanu will continue to serve as interim mayor of Chisinau municipality. The announcement was made today by Codreanu following the weekly meeting of the mayoral services of Chisinau.

"I will continue to do this and assume everything that happens in the city. I will avoid political statements and all speculations that are being made. The rumors affect activity of the entire city hall, because the situation is confusing and employees, respectively, are confused. During the interim we will work for people, not for certain political parties," said Codreanu.

At the end of recent week, Central Electoral Commission (CEC) took note of irrevocable ruling of the Supreme Court of Justice (CSJ) and declared null the new local elections for position of Mayor general of Chisinau municipality.

According to legislation in force, no new local elections can be held in 2018, so the capital will be headed by the acting interim mayor.

The planned elections for the Chisinau mayor's office will be organised in summer of 2019.
