Gross Domestic Product grows by 3.7 per cent in Moldova

Chisinau, 2 July /MOLDPRES/ - The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of Moldova increased by 3.7 per cent in the first quarter of 2018 against the same period of the previous year. Thus, GDP amounted to 37.6 billion lei.
The sectors which contributed to GDP’s increase are the foreign trade, industry and information technologies. According to analyses by the economic policies and business environment directorate at the Economics and Infrastructure Ministry, the information technologies and communications (TIC) sector marked the highest growth in the last eight years. More exactly, the gross value added got in the TIC sector recorded a nine-per cent increase. This sector has a 6.6-per cent share in GDP and is continuously increasing.
Nevertheless, the wholesale and retail trade, transport and depositing, hotels and restaurants had the biggest contribution to the increase in the gross value added.
A press release by the Economics and Infrastructure Ministry reads that the residents’ real available revenues grew by 4.8 per cent in the first quarter of this year. The salary incomes out of these revenues, which represent the most important source of incomes, registered a 7.6-per cent real increase.
