Moldovan foreign affairs minister says attraction of Japanese investments one of priorities of national economic diplomacy in Asia

Chisinau, 3 July /MOLDPRES/ - The boosting of the Moldovan-Japanese commercial and economic relations, presentation of Moldova’s investment climate and ways of strengthening contacts in terms of economic diplomacy today were discussed with the management of the Japan Business Federation (Keidanren), as well as during a visit to the factory of the Kubota company in the Tsukuba settlement, Ibaraki prefect’s office.
According to the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s press service, at a meeting with the executive director of the Japan Business Federation, Katsunori Nemoto, the Moldovan diplomacy head reiterated the Moldovan authorities’ interest in fostering the efficient and mutually advantageous cooperation with Japanese investors. Minister Tudor Ulianovschi informed interlocutors about the working out by the competent authorities of a draft agreement between the two states on the mutual promotion and protection of investments.
The executive director of Keidanren welcomed the visit to Tokyo by the Moldovan official. According to Katsunori Nemoto, this was an occasion to analyze concrete possibilities of extending the bilateral economic relations.
Following the discussions, Moldova’s investment offer was unveiled. It includes macroeconomic indexes, fiscal facilities of residents from the free economic zones, success stories of investors from abroad, etc. In the context, the sides agreed on organizing, on the immediately next period, of an event with the participation of business people from the two countries.
The actions in the sector of economic diplomacy were continued through paying a fact-collecting visit to the plant of the Kubota company from the Tsukuba settlement, Ibaraki prefect-s office, specialized in the production of agricultural technology and equipments. The company’s representatives made a presentation of the profile of the production complex and peculiarities of the assembled agricultural technology.
The Kubota company has been selected through tender for the assembling of 106 tractors for the needs of farmers from Moldova, within the project titled, Conservation Agriculture – Development of Sustainable Soils Management System in Moldova.
The trade between Moldova and Japan registered about 38.5 million dollars in 2017, up by 33 per cent against 2016.
