Chisinau, 4 July /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova will not receive the money from the first installment on behalf of the European Union. The decision was taken in the context of the invalidation of the local polls from the Moldovan capital. The information was confirmed by the EU Delegation in Chisinau today.
The European Commission specified that Moldova had carried out the measures concerning the implementation of policies; yet, the political pre-conditions have not been fulfilled. The fact was highlighted following an assessment by the Commission, made jointly with the EU’s External Action Service.
”The evaluation was made based on the recent political events in Moldova and, in particular, taking into account the ruling by the Supreme Court of Justice from 25 June to invalidate the elections for the Chisinau mayor office,” reads a specification message by the EU Delegation in Moldova.
In 2017, Moldova and the European Union signed an agreement on the providing of a macro-financial assistance worth 100 million euros. This money was to reach Moldova in three installments, as objectives set by the European Union are implemented.
