Moldovan deputy PM visits bridge between two localities on Dniester

Chisinau, 05 July /MOLDPRES/ – Deputy Prime Minister, Cristina Lesnic, together with the co-chairman of the Joint Control Commission (CUC) on behalf of Moldova, General Ion Solonenco, visited the bridge between Gura Bacului and Bacioc, on 04 July, the office for reintegration policy’s information and media communication service has reported.
This visit is related to feasibility study elaboration and organisation of works for repair/modernisation of bridge infrastructure between Gura Bacului and Bacioc, realisation of which to be possible by EU assistance, in accordance with Protocol Decision "On opening of bridge over the Dniester river near localities Gura Bacului and Bacioc" of 03 November 2017 and Protocol of official meeting of "The permanent conference on political issues in the Transnistrian settlement process", held in Rome, Italy, on 29 – 30 May 2018.
Related to it, it is appointed an expert, which, together with officials of the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure (MEI), will be involved in bridge capacities technical assessment and establishing the needed interventions and which will finalise study by late July 2018.
Within the visit, deputy PM got acquainted with peacekeeping posts on bridge itself and condition in which military men carry out their peacekeeping mission.
Also, Cristina Lesnic visited the independent infantry company of Peacekeeping Forces of Moldova, deployed around Varnita village, Anenii Noi district.
The bridge over the Dniester river, which connects localities Gura Bacului and Bacioc, was opened on 18 November 2017.
