Moldova, Italy, Ukraine to consolidate cooperation in anti-fraud sector

Chisinau, 5 July /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova, Italy and Ukraine today signed two declarations on strengthening the cooperation in the anti-fraud sector, ensuring the exchange of information and training customs employees.
The documents were signed by Director of Moldova’s Customs Service Vitalie Vrabie, Director General of Italy’s Customs and Monopoly Agency Giovanni Kessler and the acting president of the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine, Miroslav Prodan.
At a news conference, Director of Customs Service Vitalie Vrabie said that the joint declarations provided for ensuring the continuity of the trilateral dialogue. “In the last two years, a commercial growth between our countries has been recorded. Italy and Ukraine are on the first positions in terms of import and export, which proves that we have important partnerships with these two countries. The signing of documents shows the positive dynamic of the trilateral relations, which we are set to develop in continuation. The declarations see providing of assistance, consolidation of anti-corruption capacities, adjusting the customs legislation, easing the cross-border traffic, simplifying the customs procedures and facilitating the trade. We thank very much the embassies of Italy and Ukraine in Chisinau for the support provided for the development and modernization of the Customs Service,” Vrabie said.
For his part, Director General of Italy’s Customs and Monopoly Agency Giovanni Kessler positively appreciated the Moldovan-Italian relations. Kessler noted that his country “will continue consolidating the efforts to develop the services of cooperation in the customs sector.”
„The trilateral collaboration has already provided positive results. The exchange of experience in carrying out customs procedures is very important, which contributes to the minimizing of corruption acts and fraud. For the long run, we want to modernize the infrastructure, which will facilitate the joint border control. This year, another two joint control posts are to be inaugurated on the Transnistrian segment,” the acting president of the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine, Miroslav Prodan, said.
Attending the today’s meeting were Ambassador of Italy to Moldova Valeria Biagiotti and Ambassador of Ukraine to Moldova Ivan Hnatyshyn.
