Chisinau, 5 July /MOLDPRES/ - The Democratic Party of Moldova (PDM) has expressed its position on the resolution adopted by the European Parliament today. The formation described this document as a political one, “through which a too early start for the future elections in Moldova is given.”

The spokesman for PDM, Vitalie Gamurari, wrote on a social network that the resolution would have no economic or financial effects either on the government or on citizens.

„The economic growth recorded this year allows all projects and commitments be fulfilled in time, even initiating nee ones. The leadership of the government, parliament and PDM on 6 July will come up with more comprehensive official statements and will announce the way they would act further, so that the citizens benefit from the economic growth registered in the country. We reiterate that all conditions imposed have been entirely fulfilled, both before EU and before the International Monetary Fund, which actually in the last days led to the reception of a new installment of money from the agreement with IMF,” Gamurari said.

„It is regrettable the fact that the political war in Moldova was exported to the European Parliament by several Moldovan political leaders, who resort to gestures aimed against the Moldovans, just in order to achieve their mean goals. It is not ruled out that this resolution will significantly erode also the Moldovans’ trust in the European Union,” Vitalie Gamurari noted.

The European Parliament today adopted a resolution on the political crisis in Moldova as a result of the invalidation of the local polls from Chisinau. The resolution was passed with the voted of 343 MEPs out of 538 ones present in the session hall.

Under the document, the European Parliament “expresses deep concern about the ruling taken by the Supreme Court of Justice to cancel the results of the elections for the office of Chisinau city mayor and urges the European Commission to suspend both the payments provided for by the macro-financial assistance and the budgetary support for Moldova.”

On 4 July, the EU Delegation in Chisinau said that EU has suspended the payment of the first installment of the macro-financial assistance programme for Moldova.
