Moldovan exports up by about 30 per cent in first five months of 2018

Chisinau, 6 July /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova’s exports increased by 28.5 per cent in the first five months of 2018 against the same period of the year before, reaching 1.101 billion dollars.
The exports of goods meant for European Union countries have a share of 67.9 per cent, - by 4.6 per cent more against the same period of 2017. On the other hand, 16.1 per cent of Moldova’s goods were exported to countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) on the concerned period.
Data by the National Statistics Bureau (BNS) shows that, in January-May 2018, Moldova exported more vegetables and fruits, cereals, seeds, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
The value of goods imported in the first five months of this year grew by 27 per cent, standing at 2,276.3 million dollars. In particular, the imports of vegetables and fruits, cereals, meat, food products, oil increased.
The considerable gap in the evolution of exports and imports in Moldova prompted the accumulation of a deficit of the balance of trace worth 1.175 billion dollars in January-May 2018, up by 25.6 per cent against the one recorded on the same period of 2017.
