Customs structures from Moldova, Finland sign declaration on cooperation

Chisinau, 10 July /MOLDPRES/ - The Customs Service of Moldova and the Customs of Finland will carry out exchange of information and experience in more sectors, such as applying simplified procedures, anti-fraud or professional training of staff. Director of Moldova’s Customs Service Vitalie Vrabie and Director General of the Finnish Customs Antti Hartikainen, on a working visit to Chisinau, signed a joint declaration to this effect on 9 July.
At the meeting, the two officials stressed the importance of setting new forms of interaction, in order to boost the trade relations between the two states.
”I am confident that this document will contribute to the fostering of the dialogue set and, as a result, to an increase in the commercial exchanges between Moldova and Finland,” Vitalie Vrabie said.
The head of Moldova’s Customs thanked Antti Hartikainen for backing efforts of modernizing the national customs system on the period of holding by him of the position of deputy head of the European Union Border Assistance Mission to Moldova and Ukraine (2005-2007).
For his part, the director-general of the Finnish Customs gave assurances that he would support any initiatives meant to strengthen the bilateral cooperation and expressed willingness to provide the needed information and methodological assistance.
Director General of the Finnish Customs Antti Hartikainen is on a working visit to Moldova on 9-10 July. His agenda includes also the visiting of the most transited customs checkpoints: Palanca (south-east Moldova, border with Ukraine) and Leuseni (western Moldova, border with Romania).
