Water supply systems to be modernized in two central Moldova settlements

Chisinau, 10 July /MOLDPRES/ - The European Union will provide over five million euros to restore and extend the water supply systems from the city of Ungheni and Calarasi town, central Moldova. The contracts on working out the technical documentation on projects’ carrying out have been recently signed for this and the works themselves are to start in 2019.
The works of rehabilitation of aqueducts in the Ungheni city and Calarasi town are part of a project titled, Construction of infrastructure on supply with water and sewerage, as well as on energy efficiency in public buildings. The project is implemented in cooperation with the project, Modernization of Local Public Services in Moldova (MPSL). Ten infrastructure systems in the field of water and sewerage supply and eight ones in energy efficiency in public buildings, selected as a result of regional planning process, will be constructed and set to work within MSPL, implemented with the support of the German government.
The overall budget of the project financed by the European Union is of about 43 million euros. It is envisaged to be implemented till 2020, according to sources from the Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment Ministry.
As a result of the carrying out of these projects, about 200,000 citizens from 22 settlements of Moldova will benefit from qualitative community services.
