Average consumer prices stagnate in Moldova, stay at May level in June

 Chisinau, 10 July /MOLDPRES/ - The National Statistics Bureau (BNS) has informed, for the second month in a row, about a “zero” increase in consumer prices, as a result of a 0.5-per cent decrease of the prices for food products in May and 0.4-per cent drop in June against the month before.   

According to BNS, the average consumer prices in last June maintained at the level of the May prices, despite an insignificant increase of the prices for non-food products and of the tariffs for providing services to residents, by 0.1 and, respectively, 0.5 per cent.

In June 2018, the annual inflation (for the last 12 months, starting from July 2017 till June 2018) stood at 3.2 per cent, including for: food products – 5.1 per cent, non-food goods – 3.3 per cent and services provided to residents – 0.1 per cent, the official statistics made public today also shows.

The statistic data confirmed forecasts by the National Bank of Moldova. According to the report on inflation No 2, the annual inflation rate will decrease from 4.7 per cent, recorded in last March, to 2.2 per cent, on average, for the fourth quarter of 2018, under the lower limit of the variation interval of plus/minus 1.5 percentage points from the five per cent inflation target. The annual average value will get to the target variation interval in the first half of the next year.
