Cabinet to finance continuation of construction of aqueduct system in 11 settlements from central Moldova district

Chisinau, 10 July /MOLDPRES/ - The government will provide 26 million lei from the National Ecological Fund for the continuation of constructing an aqueduct system in 11 settlements of the central Hancesti district. As a result, about 17,000 residents will be able to benefit from qualitative water.

The 26 million lei is needed to carry out the fourth stage of the complex on supply with drinking water of villages from the Hancesti district (settlements from the Prut river meadow), Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment Minister Liviu Volconovici has said at a meeting of the Administrative Board of the National Ecological Fund.

The settlements due to be connected to the aqueduct are Cotul Morii, Nemteni, Obileni, Cateleni, Ivanovca, Sarateni, Leuseni, Onesti, Strambeni, Costesti and Bujor.

Representatives of the Agency Apele Moldovei (Moldovan Water) gave assurances that the works would be finished in late next October.

The pumping station and the Prut river water treatment station, as well as the technological equipment necessary for bringing the water to the aforementioned settlements will be bought and set with the sum allocated.

The project on construction of the aqueduct system in the settlements from the Prut river meadow was initiated in 2014 and its cost is about 72 million lei. According to the Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment Ministry, works worth 22.6 million lei have been carried out so far.
