The official exchange rate is the price of the Moldovan leu against the currencies of other countries. It is calculated on the basis of the exchange rates established by the licenced banks in buying/selling transactions of currencies with their customers and other banks. As such, the official exchange rate reflects the ratio of demand to foreign exchange supply in the foreign exchange market of Moldova.
