Parliament speaker discusses with ambassadors of Moldova

Chisinau, 10 July /MOLDPRES/ – The tradition of organising the meeting of ambassadors of Moldova should be preserved and the meetings have to be organised annually on the eve of summer holidays, said Parliament Speaker, Andrian Candu, at today meeting with diplomats of Moldova accredited abroad, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
According to the speaker, the dialogue of authorities with heads of diplomatic missions should continue, there is needed exchange of views and improvement of existing communication.
Also, Andrian Candu spoke to ambassadors about legislative agenda, commitments to development partners and synchronisation of common objectives and priorities set by Parliament and Government at each year start. Among them, Speaker of Parliament referred to developments in financial and banking sector, bills on reform of judiciary, fight against corruption, integrity package, energy legislation, business environment, etc.
"The European commitments remain an absolute priority. The priority of Parliament remains to be the European integration of the country and fulfillment of commitments made in this process," said Andrian Candu. In this context, he referred to agenda of Parliamentary Council for European Integration in the implementation of the Roadmap on Reform Agenda and Legislative Plan for the Implementation of Moldova – EU Association Agreement for 2018.
The other topics addressed by the speaker concerned reintegration of Moldova, existing dialogue with the People's Assembly of Gagauzia, the relations with the neighbouring countries Ukraine, Romania, but also Russia. Andrian Candu also informed about the launch of regional cooperation with Georgia and Ukraine, relations with development partners – the International Monetary Fund (IMF), World Bank (WB) and EU.
Finally, SP urged the ambassadors to organise a democratic, free and fair parliamentary election for the citizens of the Diaspora.
The ambassadors, at their turn, welcomed the effective dialogue of Parliament, MPs and officials with diplomatic missions, asked questions and talked about the encountered issues.
The annual meeting of the ambassadors of Moldova is organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration (MAEIE), on 09 – 11 July. The event aims at examining the work of diplomatic missions and increasing their efficiency, implementing foreign policy and setting new tasks and priorities.
