Chisinau, 11 July /MOLDPRES/ - The territorial subdivisions of the National Food Safety Agency (ANSA), starting from 12 July till 15 July, will boost official controls at high-risk food sector units. ANSA Director General Gheorghe Gaberi today signed an order to this effect.
Under the document, in particular, ANSA will check the outbound trade units (counters, booths and other mobile sales points), public nourishment units (fast-food, catering, etc.). At the same time, to observe the legislation and the regulations on the safety of high-risk seasonal food products, the points for selling drinking water, ice, kvass, carbonated drinks based on aromas and sweeteners, ice-cream, perishable pastry and bread products, etc. will be verified.
ANSA’s decision was prompted by the fact that, in the last period, the institution’s inspectors found out cases of infringement of the legislation in the sector of outbound trade with food products. Also, the petitions submitted to the Agency were taken into account too.
„In case of reasonable suspicions, within national programmes on monitoring and supervision in the food safety sector, inspectors will receive and consider control samples of food products made available for sale at these trade units,” ANSA sources said.
In last April, the National Food Safety Agency implemented two new instruments for consumers’ protection – submitting petitions through the Viber network and setting boxes at commercial units, where citizens also can put complaints on products or services which do not comply with the rules. Thus, besides traditional ways, such as the hotline, books for complaints, etc, boxes have appeared, set all over the country, on which all information on ANSA’s work is applied, as well the Viber line with the number 067675544.
