Moldovan teachers to get higher salaries as of 1 September 2018

Chisinau, 11 July /MOLDPRES/ – The teachers will receive higher salaries as of 01 September 2018, according to a draft approved by Executive today. The salary for teaching staff and scientific researchers in educational institutions financed from budget will be indexed by 08 per cent, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.

Following the proposed changes, the rector salary will increase to MDL 6,460, and a university professor – up to MDL 4,840. The salary of associate professors will increase by MDL 325, and of lecturers – by about MDL 300. It is worth mentioning that higher salaries will also benefit university assistants, tutors and trainers in higher education. According to similar algorithm, there will be increased salaries of employees in general and technical education.

It is provided an amount of MDL 130 million in the state budget as to make increases in 2018.

The salaries of teachers and scientific and didactic staff are indexed annually on 01 September, as the percentage average salary projected on the national economy is higher than the average salary of teachers in the last quarter of the previous year. Given that in the fourth quarter of 2017 the average salary amounted to MDL 5,722 and the average monthly salary forecast for 2018 is MDL 6,180, indexation consists 08 per cent.
