Moldovan policemen sanction 40 providers of passenger transport services

Chisinau, 12 July /MOLDPRES/ - A number of 40 heads of enterprises providing passenger transport services have received orders on behalf of policemen following the Autobuz (Bus) operation, held all over Moldova on 25 June – 6 July.
Contacted by MOLDPRES, the press officer of the National Patrol Inspectorate, Natalia Golovco, said that 753 contraventions had been discovered in the wake of those 55 inspections at automobile companies involved in the carriage of passengers and 94 verifications of transport means in terms of technical state before starting the travel.
“Most infringements regarded vehicles’ exploitation with technical defects, violation of norms of carrying out the road transport of passengers, non-observance by drivers of road traffic rules concerning the carriage of passengers, as well as the driving of a car which was not subjected to vehicle inspection,” Golovco noted.
According to Golovco, the Autobuz operation was aimed at diminishing the number of traffic accidents with the involvement of vehicles in public transport, counteracting the illegal carriage of passengers and discovering the infringements of the requirements of the legislation in force on passenger transport’s exploitation.
