Working group on local public administration discusses increase in salaries for local public administration employees in Moldova

Chisinau, 12 July /MOLDPRES/ - Representatives of the central and local public authorities on 11 July assembled at the first meeting of a working group on local public administration, set up under an instruction by the cabinet from 13 June 2018. The group was created in order to assess the present situation in the field of local public administration (APL) and jointly identify feasible ways of solving current problems, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.  

The participants tackled, in particular, subject on paying wages to APL employees. In the context, representatives of local public authorities welcomed the initiative to increase the salaries of mayors and APL civil servants.   

In this context, the discussions were focused on the concept concerning the unitary wage payment system, recently considered by the government. The members of the working group noted that APL representatives would have possibility to participate in the working out of the draft law.  

At the same time, the participants discussed also the need to simplify the mechanism of evaluation of real estate by the local administration, which will allow them increase the revenues to the local budget. Solutions are to be identified to improve the legal framework on this segment.  

The working group on local public administration represents a platform of operative and efficient consultations on subjects of interest for the local administration, thus facilitating the direct dialogue with the APL authorities.
