Chisinau, 12 July /MOLDPRES/ - As many as 170 new ambulances will be purchased by the Pre-hospital Emergency Medical Assistance National Centre. Prime Minister Pavel Filip and Deputy Governor of the Council of Europe Development Bank Rosa María Sánchez-Yebra Alonso today signed an agreement on loan worth 12 million euros, meant for renewing the park of ambulances, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The PM said that this agreement was very important for Moldova, as over 80 per cent of those 300 ambulances working had been from the Soviet times and had a wear degree of 100 per cent. In all, the health system needs 450 ambulances; 70 were bought in 2017 and another 170 are to be purchased this year.
„These 12 million euros means the healing of the health system, quality services for citizens, as well as recognition and support in our steps of making Moldova sounder,” the prime minister said.
Pavel Filip stressed that the strengthening of the health system was a priority of the government and the authorities were making efforts to turn the interventions of specialized services quicker and more efficient. The single emergency number 112 has been recently launched to this end.
The prime minister thanked the Council of Europe Development Bank for the good cooperation focused on the cabinet’s activity priorities. Among the projects carried out with the Bank’s support, there are the modernization of the Republican Clinical Hospital, improvement of penitentiaries’ infrastructure and providing dwellings to vulnerable categories of the residents. Due to the 10-million-euros-worth support on behalf of this financial institution, about 1,400 people from six Moldova districts will benefit from 400 flats in 2018.
Deputy Governor Rosa María Sánchez-Yebra Alonso congratulated the government for efforts made to implement the reforms’ agenda. She expressed the openness of the Council of Europe’s Development Bank to further back Moldova for carrying out new projects for the citizens. “We are ready to continue the fruitful cooperation. The agreement signed today represents for the bank an example of projects in which we would like to get involved in continuation,” the bank’s deputy governor added.
