First new ID cards handed to group of war veterans of Moldova

Chisinau, 12 July /MOLDPRES/ – A group of 54 war veterans have received today new model cards at a ceremony at the Centre for Culture and Military History. The cards were handed over by Defence Minister, Eugen Sturza, Interior Minister, Alexandru Jizdan, and Director of Intelligence and Security Service, Vasile Botnari.
During festive event, Defence Minister, Eugen Sturza, thanked veterans for courage, manhood and sacrifice demonstrated in fighting. "It is a first step of the government aimed at improving social protection of war veterans. There will be other actions, finality of which will mean social benefits, tax exemptions and other opportunities for those which fought with gun in hands," said Sturza.
Also, the Minister of Defence appreciated activity of interdepartmental commission, which elaborated legal framework in respective field and implemented its provisions.
According to authorities, there will be made 15 thousand new ID cards in 2018, process being carried out in stages. Thus, by the end of the second quarter there had to be printed 4,900 pieces, until the end of the third quarter – 4,900 pieces. Another 4,900 ones will be made until the end of the fourth quarter. Until 31 December 2020, it will be completed process of substitution of ID cards.
The action of providing war veterans with new ID cards takes place in context of plan: "Memory. Honour. Respect".
