German government supports development projects in central district of Moldova

Chisinau, 12 July /MOLDPRES/ – The Straseni City Hall has benefited from MDL 3 million for extension of street lighting network in locality.
The money was earned under Grant Programme: "Social Infrastructure and Energy Efficiency 2018", funded by the German State Bank for Development KfW and implemented by Social Investment Fund in Moldova. The programme is at the second stage and will support development projects in several urban and rural localities in the country, recently established following a competition.
"The grant will be used to expand the public street lighting system. There will be an assessment of overall city situation, after which, for realisation of project and capitalisation of MDL 3 million, there will be selected streets from all city sectors," told sources from Straseni City Hall.
Apart from street lighting, the Government of Germany is still supporting an important project for Straseni. This is the programme for improvement of water infrastructure in Central Region of Moldova. It envisages construction of the Chisinau-Straseni-Calarasi magistrate water supply pipeline, as well as extension of internal water supply and sewerage systems.
At this project first stage, the Government of Germany stipulated MDL 16.5 million and, according to assessment, there are planned €56 million for Straseni and Calarasi to be carried out in upcoming years.
