Chisinau, 12 July /MOLDPRES/ - The law on state assistance will be amended in line with the legal framework of the European Union, and in order to implement the Moldova-EU Association Agreement. The parliament adopted a draft law to this end in the first reading today.
Under the draft, the state assistance could be provided in form of subsidies, budgetary allocations, cancellation or taking over of debts and losses, exemptions or postponings from the payment of taxes, duties and other compulsory payments, investments of provider, guarantees provided by the state, price cuts for goods and services supplied.
The authors of the document suggest that, in case of the state assistance provided illegally and the one used abusively, the right of the Competition Council to take measures on its recovery should be subjected to a period of prescription of ten years.
The draft also proposes that the members of the Competition Council have access to certain databases owned by public authorities and institutions, in order to get, in a short period, information needed for carrying out competition-related investigations.
