Gagauzian authorities to fund UTM studies for 50 students from autonomy of Moldova

Chisinau, 13 July /MOLDPRES/ – The authorities in Gagauzia will cover for the first time full tuition fee for 50 young persons from autonomy which decided to study a specialty at Technical University of Moldova (UTM). A memorandum on it was signed on 12 July by Bashkan Irina Vlah and UTM rector Viorel Bostan.
On same day, the local centre for submission of documents for admission – 2018 to UTM was opened in Comrat. This is the third open UTM centre in regions of Moldova and is meant to facilitate procedure for submission of documents for candidates to study.
"Following a profound analysis of regional economy, we aimed to attract foreign direct investment and local investment, create new jobs and develop autonomy through reindustrialisation. And for this we need specialists. The administration of region is interested in prospect of preparing qualified specialists to contribute to development of Gagauzian industry," said Irina Vlah.
At his turn, UTM rector Viorel Bostan referred on importance of engineering for development of national economy, noting that current period is characterised by experts as "digital revolution period," so engineering professions are highly demanded on labour market, including Moldova.
Only in 2018, there were created over 1,000 jobs in automotive industry in autonomy. At present, Fujikura started construction of a new plant with a surface of 10 thousand square metres on territory of Comrat Industrial Park. The director of Fujikura Automotive Comrat, Petru Caraman, a UTM graduate, welcomed the decision of authorities in the region to train engineers within this institution, assuming their training fee. "It is a precious investment because it invests in people and in the future," said Petru Caraman.
