Foreign affairs minister says Moldova's diplomacy should be active promoter of native goods on international markets

Chisinau, 18 July /MOLDPRES/ - The boosting and backing of the commercial and economic relations between Moldova and foreign partners, promotion of the country’s investment climate, as well as strengthening contacts in the sector of economic diplomacy are priority areas in the work of the employees of Moldova’s diplomatic missions from abroad. Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Tudor Ulianovschi made statements to this effect at the inauguration of the second issue of training courses in the economic diplomacy sector today, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s press service has reported.
Minister Tudor Ulianovschi stressed that, to achieve these goals, Moldova needs a pro-active economic diplomacy, based on new models of interaction and communication with foreign partners, etc. In the context, the Moldovan diplomacy head referred to the importance of the missions of the commercial and economic offices/sections, which must become locomotives of these processes, generating new projects of development of trade and economic partnerships, of promoting commercial exchanges and exports of Moldovan services and goods on new sales markets, as well as attraction of foreign direct investments in the national economy.
”Our diplomacy can and must be an active promoter of Moldovan goods on international markets. I want to emphasize that the development of the foreign economic cooperation should become a priority dimension of the diplomatic missions’ work. We must and we can support the efforts of the government and of our economy,” Minister Tudor Ulianovschi said.
At the meeting, Minister Ulianovschi informed about the launch, for the first time ever, of the Economic Attache’s Guide, which describes techniques of promoting investments and exports. “I am happy that we have managed to launch this platform, which will certainly provide the needed guidelines for the activity of diplomatic missions in the promotion of the national economic goals,” the Moldovan diplomacy head noted.
The second issue of the training course in the economic diplomacy sector, held on 18-20 July, besides a theoretical model and study visits in the territory, comprises also exchange of experience on behalf of foreign experts from Austria, the Netherlands and Romania.
The event is organized by the joint working group in the economic diplomacy field, made up of experts of the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry, Economics and Infrastructure Ministry, Investments Attraction and Exports Promotion Organization from Moldova, with the participation of over 50 representatives of commercial and economic offices, diplomats and representatives of the competent ministries.
Moldova presently has opened commercial and economic offices in Russia, Romania, Ukraine, Belarus, China, Belgium, Poland, Germany, Italy, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates.
