Chisinau, 28 September /MOLDPRES/ - The infrastructure of the Customs Service and the processes of scanning from the border-crossing points will be modernized. An American company has showed interest in investing in this sector. The foreign investor is set to modernize the processes of scanning, which will help enhance the import-export operations and reduce the phenomenon of contraband.
According to the government’s communication and protocol department, Prime Minister Pavel Filip and the director for development of international projects at the U.S. company discussed aspects on the project’s implementation in New York. The foreign investor intends to develop the scanning infrastructure at all the ten customs checkpoints of Moldova, with the possibility of scanning up to 100 per cent both at the exit and at the entrance, on all categories of transport units and goods carried across the state border.
Presently, the Customs Service can scan 50 per cent of the trucks leaving Moldova at the most and up to 1 per cent of the busses, mini-busses and cars. The low degree of scanning is explained by the lack of the needed infrastructure.
The American company is specialized in the working out, development and implementation of modern solutions for the inspection of goods, integration of scanners for sharing information and distance analysis of the pictures got by the scanner.
