Dozens of wine-makers to participate in National Wine Day held in Chisinau, Bucharest

Chisinau, 29 September /MOLDPRES/ - A number of 60 wine producers will participate in the 17th issue of the National Wine Day, due to be organized on the Great National Assembly Square (PMAN) in late next week. For the first time ever, the holiday will be held concomitantly in the capital of Romania, where over 20 wine-makers will be present.     

The 2018 issue of the holiday will titled Wine from Moldova’s Soul and is aimed at promoting wines with Protected Geographic Indications.   

During two days, a fair of popular craftsmen, a wine school, a painting zone, a zone dedicated to public nourishment, wine tours will be organized and peasants’ yards will be improvised. The atmosphere of holiday will be completed by a comprehensive artistic programme. The guests present at the Wine Day will cover a road of wine in PMAN, made up of more geographic zones, whose representatives will bring to the event dishes, music and dances specific to each region. At the same time, more wine producers from Romania will participate in the events organized in Chisinau.

Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment Minister Nicolae Ciubuc told a news conference, held on 28 September evening, that it was only natural that wine, which brings Moldova fame all over the world and has become the country’s visiting card, has a special holiday. According to Ciubuc, in the last ten years, the vine growing and the wine making sectors have registered a growth and the production of wines is more and more qualitative year after year.   

Director of the National Office of Vine and Wine Gheorghe Arpentin said that, to organize the holiday, the institution he represents had allocated 2.2 million lei. As many as 30,000-50,000 tourists are expected to come to the 2018 issue of the National Wine Day.  

Last year, the National Wine Day brought together 47 native producers and attracted numerous foreign tourists.
