Moldovan foreign minister has meeting with Serbian counterpart

Chisinau, 29 September /MOLDPRES/ – The intensification of political dialogue and commercial – economic relations between Moldova and Serbia was discussed today by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Tudor Ulianovschi, with Deputy Prime Minister and Serbian Foreign Minister, Ivica Dačič at the meeting, organised in margin of the 73rd UN General Assembly, held in New York, the MAEIE’s public diplomacy, strategic communication and media interaction service has reported.
In the dialogue, Tudor Ulianovschi said that Moldova is paying special attention to friendly relations and good cooperation with the Balkan countries, including Serbia, expressing the interest of the Chisinau authorities in boosting contacts between the officials of Moldova and Serbia. The head of Moldovan diplomacy also specified that Chisinau advocates deepening bilateral relations throughout joint projects within the framework of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region and the Transnational Cooperation Programme for the Danube Region 2014 – 2020, funded by the European Commission. "We consider regional cooperation, including the framework provided by the Organisation for Economic Cooperation of the Black Sea (BSEC), essential for strengthening political dialogue and development of regional projects in the Black Sea region," said Tudor Ulianovschi.
At his turn, First Deputy Prime Minister, Ivica Dačič, estimated the bilateral relations between Moldova and Serbia as positive, appreciating Moldova's support for the integrity of the Serbian state in international organisations. "Serbia is interested in expanding its cooperation relations with Moldova by capitalising on the potential for economic cooperation and increasing the volume of trade, including by encouraging cooperation between the chambers of commerce and industry and organising promotional events on the occasion of bilateral visits," said the Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Tudor Ulianovschi and Ivica Dačič also had an exchange of views on the international and regional situation, stressing the importance of expanding bilateral cooperation in regional initiatives and international organisations.
