Almost 130 children hospitalised with viruses in Moldova

Chisinau, 01 October /MOLDPRES/ – Almost 130 children were hospitalised last week in the medical institutions in the capital with viruses. The announcement was made today by the representative of the Social Assistance and Health Directorate, Violeta Balta, during the weekly meeting of the Chisinau City Hall.
Altogether, over the recent week, there were made over 2,400 requests for emergency hospital services in municipal hospitals. "About a thousand people have been hospitalised in medical institutions. Thus, there were three cases of drug intoxication and a mushroom poisoning case. Also, there were diagnosed 78 people with pneumonia," said Balta.
There have also been over 360 cases of infectious diseases. "Out of these, 268 are cases of acute diarrheal disease. Most cases were reported at children – 215, which is over 80 per cent. Out of the total number of children, there were hospitalised 130, by 6 cases more than last week," said Violeta Balta.
Similarly, the local authorities announced that there were recorded 111 cases of acute dysentery during September 2018.
