Chisinau, 2 October /MOLDPRES/- Over 80% of the streets of Dezghingea, Comrat district, were connected to street lighting. The works were carried out through a project funded by the European Union under the Program "Support to agriculture and rural development in Gagauzia and Taraclia" (SARD), implemented by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
The project amounted to about 72,000 euros, of which 60,000 were provided by the European Union through the SARD program, and the rest is the contribution of the community and the regional public administration in Gagauzia.
According to Mayor Piotr Tomailî, with the savings of electricity, which he intends to make in the cold season, he will be able to extend the public lighting in the whole locality.
He urged people to organize a "Celebration of light", similar to some public activities taking place in Spain.
The villages of Congazcicul de Sus, Aluatu, Congaz and Albota de Jos were provided with street illumination from the SARD sources. Funded by the European Union with 6.5 million euros and implemented by UNDP, the SARD project intends to boost the collaboration between central and local authorities, as well as regional organizations in Gagauzia and Taraclia district.
