Embassy of Germany in Chisinau marks German Unity Day

Chisinau, 4 October /MOLDPRES/ - The German Unity Day was marked at an event organized by the Embassy of Germany in Chisinau on 3 October evening. 

Attending the action were representatives of central and local public bodies, diplomatic corps accredited in Chisinau, science and culture people.  

In her speech, Ambassador of Germany to Moldova Angela Ganninger said, inter alia, that, in fact, the confirmation of Moldova’s independence had taken place practically on the same period when Germany’s reintegration occurred. “Even if the historical experiences from our countries are different, we have experienced and we will further experience feelings of mutual friendship,” the German official said.    

According to the diplomat, the day of 3 October is the date when a very important event took place and takes place for Germany and the entire Europe. “During years, Germany and Moldova have got more and more closer. At present, we enjoy the liberalized visa regime and deep and comprehensive economic relations. This fact was due to the vast negotiations and good preparations,” the ambassador of Germany said.      

At the same time, Angela Ganninger noted that the parliamentary elections due in 2019 would represent a turning point in Moldova’s way. Therefore, a fair electoral process, before the ballot and after it, should be a natural thing, the German diplomat stressed.   

At the event, the military orchestra Würzburg/Veitshöchheim of the German Bundeswehr, which gave a concert at the Organ Hall one day before, presented a concert.  

The reunification of the Federal Republic of Germany took place on 3 October 1990. Presently, Germany is the country with the largest number of residents among the European Union member states, - 82.67 million. It is a federal parliamentary republic, made up of 16 state, named lands. Germany was a founding member of the European Communities in 1957, which became European Union 1993. Germany is member of the United Nations Organizations, NATO, G8, G20 and Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development.
