Moldovan deputy premier says leadership willing to have strong institutions due to work in citizens' interests

Chisinau, 4 October /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister Iurie Leanca today had a meeting with the members of the Steering Committee of the Eastern Partnership (EaP) Civil Society Forum, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
At the meeting, the deputy prime minister reviewed the present situation of the Moldova-EU relations, problems faced by the Eastern Partnership countries, role of the civil society in the promotion of the European agenda, as well as other subjects of common interest.
Also, the Moldovan official along with representatives of the Civil Society Forum exchanged opinions on challenges faced by Moldova’s justice and the inter-dependence with the level of corruption in the country.
"The key of success for overcoming the problems from the justice system is initiating similar projects to those enforced in EU and in some Balkan countries. We want to have strong institutions, which in cooperation with the civil society, should work in the citizens’ interests. I hope that we will have a pro-European parliamentary majority following the forthcoming elections, which is to continue the reforms,” Iurie Leanca said.
The Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum is made up of over 600 NGOs from Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Moldova, Ukraine and the European Union. Its role consists in strengthening the civil society, as well as in the promotion of cooperation of the associative sector with the governments of the EaP countries.
