Moldova appreciates Poland's support for European integration path

Chisinau, 5 October /MOLDPRES/- The possibilities to boost the Moldovan-Polish cooperation and strengthen the bilateral partnership on the European integration path were discussed at the yesterday’s meeting between Prime Minister Pavel Filip and Polish Senate Marshal Stanisław Karczewski. The sides noted the advanced level of collaboration between the two states, and pointed out the need to further promote an open and constructive dialogue in the interest of both countries, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

Filip thanked for Polish financial support provided for the Development Assistance Program. So far, about 1 million euros have been invested in various projects. "It is a real support for the continuation of the internal reforms of the country's modernization, but even more important for us is that Poland remains one of the most active supporters of Moldova’s European integration path,” he said.

The Polish official said that his country would further back Moldova’s European integration and wanted to share experience in this respect. At the same time, he thanked the authorities for supporting Polish diaspora in Moldova. At present, about 20,000 ethnic Poles live in our country.

The two officials opted for boosting the trade exchanges, scientific, cultural and tourism, and stressed the importance of inter-human relations. A special role in ensuring good communication between states has the four consulates of our country in Poland.

Poland ranks 8th among the main trade partners of Moldova, being a leader among EU countries in importing Moldovan wines. Filip invited Polish businessmen to invest in our country. At present, the largest Polish investor is a sugar-producing company with over 15 million dollars in investments. "We are interested in this investment being followed by others. We are open to potential investors and will treat them with great care ", the premier concluded.
