Two female bisons from Belorussia to be exchanged for two male bisons from Moldova

Chisinau, 10 February /MOLDPRES/ – Moldsilva agency will change 02 male bisons from the Natural reservation Padurea Domneasca (RNPD) on 02 females in protected area Nalibokski in Belorusssia. It has been recently made an agreement on it by the institution chief forestry engineer, Nicolae Munteanu, with the officials from the Ministry of Forestry in Minsk.
The exchange aims to increase the population of bisons in Moldova. "We are interested in having as many samples of bisons as possible on the territory of Moldova, and the Belarusian species are best suited to be displaced in our country. As to achieve it, we need more females," specified Nicolae Munteanu.
The exchange of mammalians is expected to take place at the end of 2019 – early 2020.
The Padurea Domneasca reservation is particularly important throughout bisons, which since 2005 have populated the tourist attraction of the area – Zimbraria Domneasca. At present, there are 07 bisons: 02 females and 05 males. The maintenance conditions of the Natural reservation Padurea Domneasca are in accordance with the Conservation strategy of the European bison of the World Nature Fund (WWF).
