Chisinau, 11 February /MOLDPRES/ - Over 30 new buses will be bought by the local authorities from the Moldovan capital. The Chisinau acting mayor, Ruslan Codreanu, today informed that the tender had been won by Unipay Danișmanlik Yazilim Teknolojileri LTD – the official dealer of the ISUZU Turkish bus-producing plant in Moldova.
At a weekly meeting of the Moldovan capital’s services, the acting mayor stressed that the new buses were of the ISUZU Citiport model, Euro 6 standard. The buses have a length of 12 metres, three doors, low floor, access platforms and room for rolling armchair, being accessible to persons with special needs, elderly people and parents with children in prams.
„Those 31 vehicles have air-conditioning installations, video and audio information equipment, four ventilation windows, etc. Those 400,000 people who daily move by public transport are worth doing this in comfort and safety and not in old buses,” Codreanu said.
The mayoralties of the cities of Constanta, Iasi and Sibiu from Romania purchased the same model of buses.
Eighty million lei has been earmarked to renew the Park of Buses. According to the local authorities, the newest buses moving on the Moldovan capital’s streets were bought in 2006. The buses have more than one million km onboard and the repair works exceed 15 million lei annually.
The Buses Park from Chisinau has 95 buses which move on 22 routes. The local authorities are set to increase the number of buses to 150.
