Moldovan companies may compete to get title Trade Mark of Year

Chisinau, 12 February /MOLDPRES/ - Companies from Moldova may compete to get the title, The Trade Mark of Year. The contest is at its 16th issue and was launched in Chisinau today. The files can be submitted till 1 April 2019.     

The contest, The Trade Mark of Year, was initiated in 2003 and is aimed at promoting successful practices in the business sector, familiarizing consumers with the best practices on the Moldovan market, as well as at noticing the most competitive enterprises of Moldova.  

President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) Sergiu Harea today said that, during 2003-2018, about 1,400 trade marks had participated in the contest. Last year, about 120 companies applied to the contest. Harea also said that, year after year, the number of producers registering their trade mark was on the rise, in conditions when the products with origin names have a double price on market against a product which does not have a trade mark.     

The current issue of the contest has 12 nominations in all. The participants will compete for the great prize – The Golden Mercury, golden, silver and bronze  medals. The participating companies will be assessed, at the first stage, by more consumers and by a team of experts at the second phase.  

According to the director general of the State Agency on Intellectual Property, (AGEPI), Lilia Bolocan, the contest is meant to enhance the competitiveness and promote the native product.  

A campaign of submitting files for the contest, Prize for achievements in the sector of quality of products and services, was launched also today. This prize is awarded annually for results in the quality field, as well as for the enforcement of efficient ways of quality management.

The winners of the contests will be awarded prizes at the Moldovan Business Gala, due on 31 May 2019.
