Temporary detention isolator in Ungheni upgraded

Chisinau, 12 February /MOLDPRES/- A temporary detention isolator in the Ungheni Police Inspectorate was renovated and upgraded according to international standards in the context of respecting the fundamental rights and freedoms of the person in detention.
The works started in mid-2018, and were recently completed. The deputy head of the General Police Inspectorate, Gheorghe Cavcaliuc, inspected today.
“Following the upgrades and renovations made, the isolator was equipped with video monitoring systems, internal cell communication systems, radio and fire safety, human value protection systems, other conditions, including personal hygiene, which will ensure detention of people with strict observance of their rights,” he said.
Surveillance of people in detention in decent conditions is a major goal of the National Police that becomes reality.
The Ungheni project was conducted in accordance with the Police Development Strategy for 2016-2020, as well as the National Public Order and Security Strategy for 2017-2020. At the same time, it is also a government commitment to external partners - the European Commission, the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture, UN Subcommittee on Prevention of Torture.
