Seven persons die of influenza in recent week in Moldova

Chisinau, 12 February /MOLDPRES/ – Seven persons died of influenza A (H1N1) on 04 – 10 February, the number of deaths has reached the number of 20. Since the beginning of cold season, there have consulted the doctor because flu – 1,255 Moldovans.
According to the MSMPS's information and media communication service, the victims of flu have become 04 men and 03 women aged 32 – 69 from Chisinau, Ungheni, Taraclia, Straseni, Briceni, Hancesti and Edinet. All people were not vaccinated against seasonal flu.
During the same period, the specialists recorded 366 cases of seasonal influenza, including 78 lab confirmed ones, 18,141 cases of upper respiratory tract infections and 653 cases of severe acute respiratory infections. The samples taken from influenza patients showed the presence of A (H1N1) and A (H3N2) viruses.
According to World Health Organisation's (WHO) data, the flu continues to grow in the European region. A large number of cases of influenza virus infection are recorded in Romania and Ukraine.
As to avoid illness, epidemiologists recommend that citizens refrain from self – treatment and contact their doctor for the first symptoms of influenza – compatible disease. It is also necessary to avoid contact with pregnant women, immunocompromised persons and cardiovascular disease, chronic respiratory diseases, diabetes, obesity patients.
